Youth Curriculum Program

Preparing Children for Life

Our BuildingBlock TM  curriculum is custom designed to ensure learning and retention of necessary life skills to aid in personal growth. This is an excellent approach to learning where the horses are the teachers.  By nature, horses are highly intuitive and have innate sensitivity, which allows the facilitator to have understanding of the participants character.  This creates those “teachable moments” that aren’t forgotten. Youth can pull from what they have learned from this experience when they are later faced with choices in everyday life. Our youth curriculum programs usually range between 8-12 sessions. The idea of this curriculum is to build on the skills they have learned so youth can advance their learning and develop solid skills for life.

Horses are the perfect tool for the use of personal development. Nature provides horses with very astute instincts and senses.  Which allows them to give immediate honest feedback. Once a participant is taught the basic body language of a horse, he or she can become the leader the horse seeks. When the horse feels safe, cooperation is immediate and the participants can easily get the horse to do what is asked of them.  Participants can then bring this piece back into their daily life as everything is a parallel to how to effectively work with people and themselves in their own lives.

Our Women's Curriculum

Empowering Women in developing skills for life!
We work with organizations that are helping women to rebuild their lives by providing a life skills development series designed to aid clients in their journey and help them to move forward with confidence.  Our 12-week Women's Curriculum series has been developed to provide direction and assist women, who are over coming barriers after trauma.  This may include women who have experieinced abuse, sexual exploitation, depression, attempted suicide, jail, homelessness.  More importanting, this program is for women that want to make change in their lives.

By interacting with our horses, our clients learn how to take action by empowerment, they learn to try new things by changing their behaviour and build positive relationships with themselves.  Horses can only give clear answers as they do not lie.  Self-awareness is a proven result when it comes to working with horses, as they teach us so much about ourselves.  This is why they are the best teachers!  They work hard to push us to a new level where we can feel confident and competent in ourselves and in our abilities.

Approved by the Calgary Board of Education!

One of the reasons we work with horses vs a classroom setting is the experience of "hands on" learning.  We all learn differently, but we can all take something away from our experiences.  Research has proven that participants learn best in using the experiential form of learning.  This is the only Nationally Recognized Equine Assisted Learning Program in Canada, our exercises are custom designed to maximize learning potential and focus on developing individual skills.
